UNEP: The Current Truth…Subject To Change Without Notice

In George Orwell’s novel ‘Nineteen Eighty-Four’ Winston Smith’s job is to rewrite historical documents to match with the new “truth” as decided by the Party, INGSOC. Their slogan is: “Who controls the past controls the future: who controls the present controls the past.”

Likewise, UNEP is attempting rather clumsily to change its climate change predictions. For example, changing “50 million climate refugees by 2010” to “by 2020” when they failed to materialize. This is classic Orwellian manipulation.

There is a scene in the novel when a crowd appears excited by the announcement that daily chocolate rations are to be increased by up to 20 grams. “Very strange”, Winston thinks to himself, “wasn’t it just yesterday when the daily ration was 30 grams?”

UNEP may not be anywhere near as sinister as INGSOC, but its cynical, unethical behaviour must be exposed!

“It seems there’s a purge on at the UN to remove failed climate claims. Last week it was the 50 million climate refugees that never materialized and was covered up, this week it’s the poor of Africa they’ve “disappeared”. This one I stumbled upon quite by accident, doing some research for my previous story: World opinion on global warming: not so hot.”
